CHANGE The first ever NuDe Zine! Our lovely nudelies got together at a recent September edition of Kuukautiset to create an amazing zine! You can view this collaborative zine here and even print it out for yourself with the instructions given below. Make sure that the printer is set to duplex (double-sided) and does not flip every other page. Alternatively, you can also flip every other page of your booklet in Adobe Acrobat. Bind however you want. Extra Tips! In the Bookstudio in Printlab, there is a handy stapler for booklets. Ask the workshop master to let you in to use it. You can also use the guillotine in the self-service side of Printlab to cut the edges. Hieman NuDesta Nuoret Designerit Ry, or commonly known as, NuDe is the subject association of the Department of Design at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. We aim to make the students’ lives better and take care of the student advocacy of the department. NuDe is also a community for everyone interested in design and art at Aalto! NuDe organizes parties, excursions and seminars to bring the students together amongst each other, the Aalto-community and the whole design-scene of Finland. NuDe’s space is located in Otaniemi, Otakaari 1, K-wing. Come and say hi! You can find our important documents below: NuDen säännöt Toimintasuunnitelma 2023 Budjetti 2023 Lyhyt historia It was the year 1986, as a few industrial design students woke to the fact, t ha t not all was well in the University of Art and Design (or as it was known in Finnish, TaiK). The teaching of design felt neglected, and the staff kept changing almost annually. These students agreed that the best way to make a change was to found a student association to take care of the students and watch over their benefits. Not a long time had passed since the golden days of punk, and those times were also the inspiration for the name of the association: Nuoret Designerit (Young Designers), NuDe. Form follows function? Even though NuDe is already over 30 years old, the history of the association is full of more or less active years. It wasn’t before 2008, that NuDe started to form a more organized association with representatives from almost all fields of design at the university. NuDe is still taking its form, and new traditions are made almost every year. Some of them stick around, some of them fade away - and a great example of this is the student uniforms. The birth of the Vappu Jacket In the year 2013 NuDe tried ordering around a dozen grey overalls, but even though the longing for belonging to the traditional Finnish student culture that the overalls represent was lifting its head, the rejection for the mass culture was stronger. Therefore the overalls never rooted, and no one ordered a second batch. A couple of years later the idea of design student uniforms came up again, and this time someone thought of an artist’s jacket with a print fabric. This idea felt more NuDe, and that’s how our unique Vappu Jackets were born.

Otaneum Muotoilijoiden koti Otaneum is the home for NuDe-people on Otaniemi campus. You can find this oasis of design from the K-wing (the tip of the H-wing) of Otakaari 1, also known as the Undergraduate Centre. The entrance is just opposite to Väre and the metro station - find a picture below. You can also use Aalto Space app to find Otaneum with the room numbers K106a and K105! From Otaneum you can find amazing treats, like coffee, comfortable sofas and (most importantly) your designer peers. For further information and in case of any issues in accessing the sapce (for example due to the construction area), please contact the board! Otaneum

NuDen digitaalinen laulukirja A big part of the Finnish student culture is sitsi parties (= 'academic dinner party'). And a key part of sitsi parties is singing. For your conveniece we have gathered here some of the most iconic songs sang at NuDe's sitsis! The songs have different meanings, some of them are for example used to open and to close the party or to 'open' a particular drink. Yhteistyö Nuoret Designerit ry brings together all the bachelors’ and masters’ degree students from the department of design, or in other words, simply the best future design professionals the world can offer. Our students will graduate in the fields of, for example, industrial design, textile and pattern design, service design, glass and ceramics design and much more. Hallituspestit NuDen hallitus on paikka jossa pääset oppimaan, vaikuttamaan ja saat upeita muistoja sekä elinikäisiä ystäviä. Näistä tehtävistä saa myös opintopisteitä! Advocate (MA and BA) As a student advocate, you get to help students and faculty communicate better. There are two positions for advocates on the NuDe board, one for masters' and bachelors' advocate. Kuutti Captains (MA and BA) NuDe's Fuksi (Freshman in Finnish), recently also changed to Kuutti (Seal pup in Finnish), Captains make sure the new students in the Department of Design settle in well through being their responsible tutors! They help students to make sense of student life in Otaniemi, understand the difference between Migri and Maistraatti, and much more. Fuksi Captains also support our tutors! Tutor responsible In the center of tutor responsible's role is to take care of Hosts/IE (Isäntä ja Emäntä) The hosts get to arrange various different events and activities with the goal of bringing our amazing members together. A few of the greatest parts of being a host are working with NuDe’s apu-IE (the committee that works with hosts on events). Outreach Outreach is basically everything that we have to do with companies. The main task of outreach is to build bridges between the students and working life and to make money for the association while doing so. Concretely speaking this means organizing sponsorship deals for concrete products and career events, like excursions. Treasurer Coordinated money is one of the main reasons why we have associations and not just friend gangs that do things. The treasurer's work consists mostly of accounting and budgeting, which will look great on your CV! Secretary / Space Manager The secretary is in charge of such important tasks as writing board meeting minutes, and keeping our calendar and membership register updated. The position is combined with space managing, which is taking care of all matters related to Otaneum. Communications The NuDe communications manager is in charge of producing and spreading content in visual and written form for our members. The position includes things like managing social media and publishing our news! Chairperson The core task of the chair is holding the weekly board meetings, making sure the board is doing fine with their responsibilities and occasionally representing the association. The chair gets to be a part of and proudly witness many amazing projects throughout the year! Vice-chairperson The main duty of the vice-chair is to fill in for the chair in case something happens.
